Sriji Gopalji Foundries Pvt. Ltd. a sister concern of Nathani Steel Scrap Mart was established in the year 2003 as the flagship company of Nathani Group. Nathani Steel Scrap Mart in turn was established in the year 1975 as an iron and steel scrap processors and traders firm. Having spent close to 45 years in this industry we have gradually acquired considerable experience in the trading business of Cast Iron (CI) and Melting Steel (MS). In our facility in Benaras Road, Howrah we have been processing/converting light melting scrap into bundles which is then sold to furnaces. Our MS trading business functions similarly where we buy scrap from traders and plant owners and supply them to furnaces. On the other hand in CI business we have been dealing with large steel companies like Electrosteel Casting Ltd, Srikalahasthi Pipes Limited, Steel Authority of India Ltd, Jai Balaji Industries Limited, Tata Metaliks, Rahmi Metaliks, etc. We buy CI scrap from such reputed steel companies and supply them to traders, cupolas and furnaces.
Over the years we have seen the ups and down of the steel business cycle and have successfully tide over them. We have now reached a position where we command respect and appreciation from both our buyers as well as our suppliers as reliable traders. As far as business philosophy is concerned we have always tried to mix aggression with caution. When there was an opportunity to import scrap few years back we dived at the opportunity and when we believed that the market dynamics is unstable we slowed down our operations. We now believe that the market for both CI and MS steel scrap is going to grow significantly from here. Many new steel
plants in small scale to medium an d large scale have started operations in not just Eastern India but other areas as well. This provides us with an unprecedented opportunity to scale our size. Our steady growth in turnover is testimony of opportunities we have.
The business profile of the company has gradually expanded into not just scrap trading, but even handling of scrap dump (primarily of SAIL), transportation and heavy equipment hiring. Through our group companies we were handling, processing, doing internal transportation of Electrosteel Steels ltd for quantities upto 1 lac ton per month. Currently we are managing the dump of Bokaro Steel through our associate handling more than 3 lac tons per month.
Directors:
Mr. Akshay Nathany: He completed his Level II CFA in the year 2003 and then went on to do his MBA from IIM Lucknow in 2005 one of the best business schools in India. Ever since his induction as a director in the company he has provided a detailed road map for the company to achieve considerable scale, size and profitability in the years to come. Business processes have been streamlined which will help not just in day to day operation but also in improving the efficiency in the system. There is a constant endeavor to explore new opportunities and new markets which will further help the company achieve consistent growth over the years.
Mr. Rajesh Nathany: He completed his B.Com (H) from the prestigious St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata in 1975. Since then he has been involved in the business of trading of Mild Steel & Cast iron scrap. In his career now spanning over thirty years he is successfully running businesses in Kolkata, Kalahasti and Sharjah (U.A.E.). It his vast experience which has provided the company with a deep sense of understanding of the market as well as maturity to deal with adverse conditions. Over the years Mr. Nathany has helped build new relations with various companies and solidified the position of various group companies in the market.
